David C. Courreges is the Senior Corporate Counsel Austin’s largest locally owned financial institution University Federal Credit Union, where he heads the Cooperative’s legal, regulatory compliance, and corporate insurance divisions. Prior to joining UFCU, he founded the Austin-based law firm Courreges PC where his practice included legislative and governmental affairs, administrative law, association law and mediation. He has over two decades of direct experience in government law, working as the legislative director and chief of staff for two high-ranking state representatives, general counsel for two non-partisan legislative caucuses, as well as a consultant for several entities dedicated to the research of sound public policy. He now serves as the chair of the Texas Credit Union Association’s Governmental Affairs Committee and is an Executive Committee member of the America’s Credit Unions PAC, one of the largest trade association political action committees in the country.
David is a past president of the Austin Bar Association, Austin Young Lawyers Association and the St. Mary’s Law Alumni Association, former member of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors, board and executive committee member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and former executive committee member of the Austin Young Chamber. He and his wife, Erin, who is also a retired lobbyist and now a small business owner, are the proud parents of the greatest kid in the(ir) world, McKenna.
