Lucía Durá

Dr. Durá is an Associate Professor and Program Director of Rhetoric and Writing Studies. She does community-based research on the U.S.-Mexico border and beyond. For over a decade, she has been collaborating on interdisciplinary projects that emphasize participatory design, asset-based thinking, and creativity, e.g., through the use of liberating structures and positive deviance.

Her most recent collaborations include:

  • Developing a dissemination plan for a pediatric cancer innovation;
  • Conducting a small user-experience study to create a bilingual glossary for end-of-life terminology;
  • Working with the federal court and probation systems locally on an initiative to address recidivism; and
  • Publishing a bilingual series of booklets and curricula on values and public health through a binational initiative with the Mexican Consulate.
